Its Summer!!

It was getting pretty hot outside and the boys needed a way to cool off, so I got out the slip n slide. Now its a few years old and has a few flaws, so I got out the tape and was taping all the tiny little holes where the air was escaping. Got it patched up and away the kids went...having a great time. In fact they played on it NONSTOP for 2.5 hours!! I was shocked, but glad they had so much fun. Here are a few photo's of their fun time slipping around.
Caden having fun and would get pretty far...all the way to the "splash pool area" at the end.

It came with this float thing that you can use to slip on it, but its not nearly as fun. Elijah however can get going pretty fast and will slip n slide right off the entire slide and into the grass.
Love this picture...here is Elijah flying thru the air as he lands onto the slip n slide.

Now this must remain a secret to our boys....but Caden is getting a swimming pool for his birthday. One of those intex (12 ft by 32 inches) easy set up pools. So this slip n slide, since it has seen better days, is heading to the trash!!

It's Complete!!

Ever since we moved here to Indiana our boys have been asking for a tree house. Elijah drew up some plans that he wanted and that included a trap door and a fireman's pole to escape quickly. Nick set to work figuring out where to put the tree house and then drawing up his own plans. Of course he did include a trap door for the boys, but no fireman's pole. Here is the beginning stage back in April.
Nick got really far on it in April and then pretty much the month of May didnt work on it at all until Memorial Day Weekend when he finished it up.
While nick finished the shingles I laid carpet inside. The boys really do like it. We had some left over paint that was left here at our house so we painted the door to match our "real" house door. The shingles were given to us from Great Grandpa Gutwein and the siding was left over from our house as well which we found in the attic.

The finished product!! Well, almost. We have yet to add a zip line to the tree house that will take you down and across the back yard up to our house. This won't be put in until the fall or even next spring. One thing at a time:).

Of course the boys were super excited and had to sleep in it already....the first night it was completed. They would have slept in it last night, but it was expected to storm and so we said "no". They are waiting patiently for the next time:).
